Yogi Adityanath inaugurates Gorakhpur Link Expressway

Infrastructure  -  Jun 24,2025  -

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath opened the 91.35-kilometer Gorakhpur Link Expressway on June 20, 2025.

Built at a cost of Rs 7,283.28 crore, this expressway connects National Highway-27 in Gorakhpur to Salarpur in Azamgarh, directly linking to the Purvanchal Expressway. This big road project is expected to greatly reduce travel time to key areas like Urwa, Dhuriyapar, Khajni, and Belghat.

The expressway goes through four districts: Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, and Azamgarh. It is currently a four-lane road, with plans to expand it to six lanes in the future. The route has advanced traffic control systems, including security cameras, automatic license plate readers, and speed monitoring. The project was built in two sections: APCO Infratech built the 48.317-kilometer part from Jaitpur to Phulwaria, and Dilip Buildcon completed the 43.035-kilometer part from Phulwaria to Salarpur. The project involved buying land from 172 villages, covering 1,148.77 hectares.

This is the seventh expressway to open in Uttar Pradesh, with five of them completed in the last eight years, showing the state's fast progress in building road infrastructure.
