Volks Energie has won a contract from Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) to set up solar power systems with lithium-ion batteries and chargers for its Irugur-Devangonthi pipeline (IDPL) project.

The IDPL project involves a pipeline network across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Volks Energie will add solar power systems with battery storage to these pipelines to provide backup power for control stations and other important equipment when they are not connected to the main power grid.

These combined systems will power essential equipment like SCADA systems (for monitoring and control), cathodic protection (to prevent corrosion), and other key functions at various distant locations along the pipeline.

This is the second contract BPCL has given to Volks Energie for its pipeline projects, following an earlier one in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
