Vedanta’s Rs 13,226 crore aluminium ramp-up aims for 3.1 MTPA by FY 2028

Power Generation  -  Oct 08,2025  -

Vedanta Ltd is executing a major expansion in its aluminium business with a planned investment of Rs 13,226 crore to increase capacity to about 3.1 million tonnes per annum by FY 2028.

In recent quarters, Vedanta reported record aluminium production of 617 kilotonnes and alumina output of 653 kilotonnes, marking strong growth across its metals portfolio.

The company also plans to lift its renewable energy share from 5% to around 30% by 2030 to reduce its carbon footprint.

The investment aligns with India’s surging demand for aluminium in electric vehicles, infrastructure, packaging, and renewable energy applications.

If implemented efficiently, the project could reinforce Vedanta’s dominance in India’s metals industry and enhance its global competitiveness.***
