Tenders invited for Mokama-Munger Green Alignment 4-Lane Highway in Bihar

Infrastructure  -  Jul 26,2025  -

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has officially invited tenders for the construction of an 82.40-kilometer, four-lane highway on the green alignment of the Mokama-Munger section of NH-33.

Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin announced that the project is estimated to cost Rs 2,243.16 crore, with tender submissions due by September 10, 2025.

A significant 14-kilometer stretch of the Karjara-Munger section will be integrated with the Raxaul-Haldia Expressway.

This vital infrastructure development aims to establish direct four-lane connectivity from Buxar to Mirza Chauki, substantially improving transportation and freight movement, especially for industries like steel and construction.

Land acquisition for the greenfield alignment is currently underway, and the government aims to finalize the tender and commence construction within the next two months.

The project has a targeted completion period of 2.5 years, with the chosen contractor responsible for maintenance for the subsequent 15 years.

This initiative is a key part of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's vision for infrastructure development in Bihar, promising enhanced mobility and economic growth.
