Power Generation  -  Sep 03,2025  -

Tamil Nadu government, under the leadership of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, has formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Germany-based Nordex Group.

The agreement, valued at Rs 1,000 crore, will see the global wind turbine giant expand its manufacturing footprint in the state, creating 2,500 new jobs.

The landmark deal was a key outcome of Chief Minister Stalin's recent investment promotion tour, which included a visit to Germany aimed at attracting foreign direct investment into Tamil Nadu.

The Nordex Group, a world leader in wind energy technology, has committed to investing in the expansion of its existing plant located in the Tiruvallur district.

"This Rs 1,000 crore investment by Nordex Group is a testament to Tamil Nadu's conducive business environment and our unwavering commitment to renewable energy," stated a senior official from the Tamil Nadu Industries Department.

"The expansion will not only strengthen our position as a hub for green manufacturing but also provide significant employment opportunities for our youth," the official added.

The MoU with Nordex Group was part of a series of agreements signed during the Chief Minister's European tour, which collectively garnered over Rs 3,200 crore in investments from German companies alone, including Knorr-Bremse and ebm-papst.
