Survey for 45 km railway line approved in Ahmedabad

Infrastructure  -  Jul 17,2025  -

The Railway Board has given its approval for the final location survey (FLS) of a new 45-kilometer railway line, set to connect Saradiya in Junagadh district with Wansjaliya in Jamnagar district of Gujarat.

This strategic development is anticipated to significantly enhance rail connectivity in the remote regions of Saurashtra, fostering industrial, social, and economic growth.

Atul Kumar Tripathi, senior divisional commercial manager for the Bhavnagar Division, highlighted that the new line will integrate the Saurashtra region more closely with the national railway network. This improved connectivity will benefit both passenger and freight movement.

Crucially, the new 45-km line is expected to serve as a shorter alternative route for travelers heading to significant pilgrimage destinations such as Somnath, Dwarka, Okha, and Porbandar. It will also provide enhanced access to other key religious sites like Girnar.
