Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has big plans to build a 500-megawatt pumped storage power plant. 

It will be built where their old Medipally opencast mine used to be, in the Ramgundam-1 area. 

This project will cost around Rs 3,000 crore. It's a new type of business for the company and the first of its kind for energy in Telangana.

This will be the first pumped storage power plant in Telangana. It is very important for keeping the power grid stable and adding renewable energy in the state.

N Balaram, Chairman and Managing Director of SCCL, said, "After finishing the first studies, the company has given a contract to WAPCOS Limited, a government company. They will be in charge of preparing a detailed plan for the project."
