Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), the state-owned coal mining company, is undergoing a major strategic shift by expanding into the green energy sector. 

This diversification, announced by the Telangana Deputy Chief Minister, aims to reduce the company's reliance on traditional coal mining. 

The company is establishing a new subsidiary, "Singareni Green Energy Limited," to manage its thermal, solar, and other green energy projects.

This transition reflects a broader trend among traditional energy companies to align with national and global renewable energy goals. 

In addition to solar projects, SCCL is exploring opportunities in critical minerals and securing new coal blocks to ensure sustainable production.

The move is expected to not only contribute to India's renewable energy targets but also create new employment opportunities and enhance the company's long-term business sustainability.
