Siemens has announced that its group of companies has been awarded a contract to equip India's very first High-Speed Rail project.

The team, which includes Siemens Limited and Siemens Mobility GmbH, will be putting in place advanced signaling and telecommunication technologies for the project.

This project is valued at approximately Rs 4,100 crore, with Siemens Limited's portion being about Rs 1,230 crore. It involves designing, installing, and maintaining technologies based on the European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2. The work will take 54 months to complete, followed by a 15-year maintenance period.

The ETCS Level 2 technology will allow trains to run at speeds up to 350 km/h, providing real-time oversight and constant communication. This effort fits with India's National Rail Plan 2030, which aims to improve the country's train infrastructure.

Sunil Mathur, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Limited, commented on the partnership with NHSRCL, emphasizing Siemens' commitment to the 'Make in India' program and sustainable transportation.
