SECI floats tender for 2,000 MW solar project

Power Generation  -  Jun 17,2025  -

SECI has put out a call for bids to build a 2,000 megawatt (MW) solar project in India, which will also include energy storage systems in the same location.

In February, the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) suggested placing energy storage systems alongside solar power projects. This idea is meant to make the power grid more stable and cost-effective.

According to the bid details on SECI's website, a company will be chosen to develop this solar power project, which will be connected to the national power grid (ISTS). It will also feature 1000 MW / 4000 MWh of energy storage. The selection will happen through a competitive bidding process based on the price (SECI-ISTS-XX).

Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), which operates under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), is the main organization responsible for running auctions for renewable energy projects.

The last day to submit bids online is July 22, and for physical submissions, it's July 24, 2025. The bids will then be opened on July 25.
