Rockwool to begin operations at Rs 550 crore Cheyyar plant by mid-2026

Manufacturing  -  Sep 24,2025  -

Rockwool Group is advancing its plans to establish a new stone wool insulation manufacturing facility in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, with operations scheduled to begin by mid-2026.

The company is investing Rs 550 crore in the plant, which will have a production capacity of 50,000 tonnes annually. The Cheyyar facility will be larger than Rockwool’s existing Gujarat plant and is expected to become a central hub for its operations in India.

The investment will create more than 150 direct jobs and significant indirect employment opportunities in supply chain, logistics, and ancillary industries.

Demand for fire-safe and energy-efficient building materials is growing rapidly in India, driven by stricter building regulations, rising urbanization, and climate-conscious construction.

Rockwool’s expansion into Tamil Nadu positions it to serve this growing market while contributing to the state’s manufacturing ecosystem and India’s broader sustainability agenda.
