Reliance plans major FMCG plant in Gorakhpur

Power Generation  -  Sep 01,2025  -

Reliance Consumer Products Ltd, the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries, has announced plans to set up a 120-acre FMCG manufacturing plant in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant investment in India’s fast-moving consumer goods space.

The plant will manufacture packaged food, beverages, and household products, serving as a hub for Reliance’s entry into the competitive FMCG sector. Industry observers estimate the project cost at Rs 2,000–3,000 crore, though Reliance has not disclosed official numbers.

The Gorakhpur plant is expected to generate several thousand jobs directly and indirectly. It will also create opportunities for local suppliers and farmers, especially in agri-based raw materials.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed the project, calling it a “milestone in the state’s journey towards becoming a $1 trillion economy.”
