Mahindra plans new greenfield plant, expands service network

Power Generation  -  Sep 01,2025  -

Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) will set up a new greenfield manufacturing plant in India as part of its strategy to meet surging demand for SUVs and electric vehicles.

The company also announced plans to expand its service network nationwide to enhance customer support.

The new plant will focus on producing the next generation of SUVs and electric models under the company’s “Born Electric” platform. Executives said the facility will be equipped with advanced automation, energy-efficient processes, and sustainability measures.

“The demand for our SUVs has consistently outstripped supply. With this greenfield facility, we aim to address capacity constraints while preparing for the EV transition,” said Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director at M&M.

M&M has been a leader in India’s SUV market, with blockbuster models like the Scorpio-N, XUV700, and Thar. The company has also unveiled plans to launch multiple electric SUVs by 2027, backed by a $1 billion investment from British International Investment (BII).
