Reliance Consumer to build Rs 1,156 crore FMCG facility in Thoothukudi

Manufacturing  -  Sep 24,2025  -

Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Retail, will invest more than Rs 1,156 crore to establish a large-scale food and consumer goods manufacturing unit in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.

The project will be set up on a 60-acre plot at SIPCOT Allikulam Industrial Park and will produce items such as biscuits, snacks, spices, wheat flour, and edible oils.

The new facility is expected to generate 2,000 jobs over the next five years, creating employment opportunities in operations, logistics, and allied industries.

This marks RCPL’s first manufacturing project in Tamil Nadu and a significant step in its strategy to establish a network of integrated food parks across the country.

The investment highlights Tamil Nadu’s attractiveness as a destination for manufacturing, supported by strong port connectivity and industry-friendly policies.

For Reliance, the project strengthens its competitiveness in the FMCG space as it looks to build scale against established rivals in the packaged food segment.
