Infrastructure  -  Sep 19,2025  -

The Paradip Port Authority, Visakhapatnam Port Authority, Sagarmala Finance Corporation Ltd (SFCL), and the Odisha government have joined forces to develop a new major port at Bahuda in Odisha's Ganjam district.

The project is estimated to cost Rs 21,500 crore. Once complete, Bahuda will be India's 14th major port and the second under Union government ownership in Odisha.

The port is designed to handle a capacity of 150 million tonnes and will be a deep-draft facility, capable of accommodating large cargo and container ships.

This development aims to solidify Odisha's position as a key maritime hub on the east coast, boosting trade and regional economic development.
