Ester Industries, a leading Indian manufacturer of polyester chips and films, has partnered with Canada-based Loop Industries to form a joint venture, Ester Loop Infinite Technologies (ELITe). 

They'll make an initial investment of Rs 1,600 crore to build a plant in Gujarat's Dahej area. 

The facility, in which both companies hold a 50:50 stake, will chemically recycle polyester to produce 70,000 tonnes of rDMT, 23,000 tonnes of rMEG, and 70,000 tonnes of rPET resin annually. 

This investment aligns with the global push toward a circular economy and sustainable manufacturing. 

The plant will use textile waste from Gujarat as raw material and aims to be commissioned by the end of 2027.
