Odisha approves seven renewable energy projects worth about Rs 1,191 crore

The Odisha government has given initial approval for renewable energy projects that can together produce 149.97 Megawatts (MW) and will cost Rs. 1191.47, an official from the State's energy department said.

The tenth meeting of the Single Window Committee, held under the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy-2022, gave initial approval to seven renewable energy projects.

The projects that were approved include two Wind Power Projects generating 95.7 MW, four Ground-Based Solar Projects generating 53.97 MW, and the first Battery Storage Project with a capacity of 0.6 MWh (megawatt-hour).

These projects will use Odisha's natural potential for making renewable energy, showing the State's dedication to reaching its renewable energy targets set in the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy-2022.

Vishal Dev, the Secretary of the Energy Department, highlighted how important renewable energy is for making the economy grow in a way that can be sustained over time.

He repeated the government's commitment to making it easier for investments to happen and making sure the approved projects are completed on time.
