Infrastructure  -  Jul 15,2025  -

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone for nine National Highway (NH) projects in Karnataka, spanning a total length of 88 km and involving an investment exceeding Rs 2,042 crore.

The event, held in Sagara Town, Shivamogga, also saw the inauguration of several completed projects, further bolstering connectivity across the state.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Gadkari emphasized the Central Government's commitment to enhancing road infrastructure in Karnataka. He noted the significant increase in the state's National Highway network, which has grown from 6,707 km in 2014 to approximately 9,424 km in 2025.

He further assured that projects and schemes worth an ambitious Rs 5 lakh crore will be undertaken in Karnataka over the next five years.

This newly constructed bridge is poised to significantly improve connectivity between the Malnad and coastal regions of Karnataka, also providing easier access to important pilgrimage centers like the Sigandur Chowdeshwari and Kollur Mookambika temples. This cable-stayed bridge itself spans 6.18 km and cost Rs 472.08 crore.
