Nextgen Semiconductor fuels India's chip ambition

Power Generation  -  Sep 17,2025  -

Nextgen Semiconductor is set to raise Rs 1,500 crore to fund a Rs 8,800 crore project to build an integrated Silicon (Si) and Silicon Carbide (SiC) power semiconductor facility in Dholera, Gujarat.

This project is a key part of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), a government initiative aimed at making India a global hub for electronics manufacturing.

The Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), where the plant will be located, is a greenfield smart city with a focus on high-tech industries.

Nextgen's partnership with Hitachi Energy will provide crucial process technology expertise and global market access.

The facility, which will serve sectors like electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy, and data centers, is expected to start construction by April 2026 and become operational within 15 months.
