Neogen and Morita form JV to develop lithium-ion battery business

Power Generation  -  Dec 02,2025  -

Neogen and Japan’s Morita Holdings have entered into a joint venture to develop lithium-ion battery technologies and manufacturing solutions in India.

The partnership will focus on cell technology, pack assembly and advanced safety systems, all of which are critical for EVs and energy-storage applications.

The JV aims to accelerate domestic capability in battery production as India pushes for deeper localisation in the clean-mobility ecosystem.

The collaboration combines Neogen’s Indian market presence with Morita’s engineering expertise, enabling faster scale-up of high-quality lithium-ion products.

It is also expected to foster technology transfer and reduce reliance on imported battery systems.

With EV demand rising across two-wheelers, cars and commercial fleets, the JV positions itself for long-term growth in the energy-transition value chain.
