Maharashtra Govt to appoint consultant to acquire land for Port-Led industrialisation

Metallurgical Industries  -  Aug 08,2025  -

The Maharashtra government is preparing to appoint a consultant to oversee the process of land acquisition for port-led industrialization.

This initiative is a key part of the state's plan to develop industrial clusters around its ports, a strategy aimed at boosting trade, generating employment, and attracting foreign investment.

The consultant will be responsible for ensuring a smooth and transparent land acquisition process, which is critical for the timely execution of these large-scale projects.

To facilitate early cargo movement, the state has asked the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to approve a temporary road connecting the port to NH-66 near Thalakode.

A permanent cloverleaf interchange—estimated to cost Rs 360 crore and require 30 acres,is also being considered, with costs to be split equally between the state and NHAI. VISL has already paid Rs 11 crore to landowners for 36 cents of land.
