Madhya Pradesh govt to infuse Rs 5,163 crore in power transmission

Power Generation  -  Jun 18,2025  -

The government of Madhya Pradesh has approved a large investment of Rs 5,163 crore. This money will be used to update and improve the state's power transmission system in current projects.

This decision, made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, is part of the state's bigger plan to fix ongoing problems, reduce electricity loss during transmission, and make sure power supply is steady in both cities and villages.

Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said that the money will be invested in improving the power transmission system in existing projects. He added that this will help customers get good quality and continuous power supply in the state.

The funding is expected to support various projects under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). This is a program backed by the central government, designed to improve how state-owned power transmission and distribution companies operate and manage their money.

The scheme focuses on upgrading infrastructure, installing smart meters, separating power lines (feeder segregation), and making the system stronger to reduce overall technical and commercial losses to below 15% by the end of 2025.
