Longi Green Energy Technology of Chia has agreed to supply 5 gigawatts of high-efficiency solar modules to India’s Inox Solar, marking one of the largest solar-module supply deals in recent years. 

This enhances India’s capability to deploy large-scale solar parks and accelerate renewable-capacity growth.

India’s ambition to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil energy by 2030 has intensified demand for module imports, even as domestic manufacturing capacity expands. The Longi-Inox deal bridges near-term supply gaps and provides scale.

For Inox Solar, securing a reliable module supply is critical for project timeline assurance and cost containment. Global competition in solar components is fierce, and partnerships with established manufacturers help manage technology risk.

Going forward, the domestic industry will need to scale up vertically across ingots, wafers and module-assembly to reduce dependency. 

While imports remain part of the mix, policy support and local-value addition will shape the next phase of India’s solar-manufacturing journey.
