Kolkata Port Authority plans to float a tender within the next two months for the development of an agro processing zone, aimed at strengthening eastern India’s agri-logistics ecosystem. 

The project will enhance storage, processing, and export capabilities for agricultural commodities, improving supply chain efficiency and farmer income realisation. 

The zone is expected to attract private investment and create an integrated logistics and processing hub near the port. 

It will play a key role in boosting agro-based exports from the eastern region.

This initiative aligns with India’s broader push to modernise port-led industrial development and promote value addition in agriculture. 

It also enhances the strategic importance of Kolkata Port in India’s eastern trade corridor.
