Kirloskar Ferrous industries named preferred bidder for Karnataka's Jambunatha Iron Ore Mine

Metallurgical Industries  -  Jul 24,2025  -

Kirloskar Ferrous Industries Limited (KFIL), a prominent Indian manufacturer of pig iron and casting products, has been declared the "preferred bidder" for the Jambunatha iron ore mine located in the Bellary district of Karnataka.

This announcement, made by the Department of Mines and Geology, Government of Karnataka, on July 22, 2025, follows an electronic auction conducted on January 27, 2025, where KFIL emerged as the highest bidder.

The acquisition of the Jambunatha mine is a significant strategic move for Kirloskar Ferrous. As a vertically integrated company, with operations spanning from mining to finished tubular products and casting, securing this captive iron ore source will further enhance its raw material security, improve cost efficiency, and support its expansion plans.

KFIL has manufacturing facilities in Karnataka and Maharashtra, and this mine is expected to bolster its operations in its home state.

Kirloskar Ferrous has a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, employing advanced manufacturing techniques and waste-heat recovery systems for captive power.

The addition of the Jambunatha mine to its portfolio is expected to further strengthen its position in the Indian metals industry, particularly in the context of growing demand for iron ore in the steel and casting sectors.
