Kerala’s first EV Industrial Park to come up at Vilappilsala

Infrastructure  -  Nov 04,2025  -

Kerala is set to establish its first electric vehicle (EV) industrial park at Vilappilsala, near Thiruvananthapuram, as part of the state’s strategy to promote clean mobility and attract EV investments. The project will be developed over a large area with facilities for manufacturing, battery assembly, and R&D.

This initiative aligns with Kerala’s “EV Policy 2025,” which aims to bring 10 lakh electric vehicles onto state roads by 2026. The park will encourage domestic and foreign manufacturers to set up units through investment-friendly policies and shared infrastructure.

With India’s EV sector witnessing rapid growth, Kerala’s entry into manufacturing will help create jobs, boost innovation, and reduce dependence on imported components. The park will also feature testing and certification centers for local startups.

The move reflects Kerala’s push to transition from an import-driven consumer market to a production-led green economy, positioning itself among India’s key EV hubs.
