Cochin Shipyard and Drydocks World form JV for India’s ship repair cluster

Infrastructure  -  Nov 04,2025  -

Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) and Dubai-based Drydocks World have launched a 50:50 joint venture to develop India’s first integrated ship repair cluster. The initiative aims to establish India as a global destination for ship maintenance, retrofitting, and conversion services.

The cluster will bring together advanced repair technologies and drydock infrastructure to cater to both domestic and international clients. Located strategically near key shipping routes, it will serve cargo, offshore, and passenger vessels, ensuring faster turnaround times.

This partnership underscores India’s maritime ambitions under the “Sagarmala” and “Maritime India Vision 2030” programs, which emphasize port-led industrialization and maritime service development.

By combining CSL’s engineering expertise with Drydocks World’s global operational experience, the JV is expected to significantly enhance India’s competitiveness in the global marine services market.
