Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced that the highly anticipated Railway Manufacturing Unit (RMU) in Kazipet, Telangana, will commence its manufacturing operations by 2026. 

This mega factory, a long-cherished dream for the region, is poised to become a significant hub for railway rolling stock production in India and contribute to the nation's growing export capabilities.

During an inspection of the facility, accompanied by Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy, Minister Vaishnaw expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Rs 500 crore (approximately USD 60 million) project. 

He confirmed that civil works at the manufacturing unit are targeted for completion by December 2025, with the entire project expected to be fully operational by May 2026.
