JLR to commence assembling of luxury cars in Tamil Nadu by 2026

Automotive Industries  -  Jun 27,2025  -

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), owned by Tata Motors, is indeed set to commence the assembly of luxury cars in Tamil Nadu by early 2026.

This move signifies a major expansion of JLR's manufacturing footprint in India and is part of a larger Rs 9,000 crore investment by Tata Motors over the next five years.

The new state-of-the-art assembly plant will be located in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu.

The plant will initially focus on assembling two iconic SUV models, the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Velar, using completely knocked down (CKD) kits.

The initial phase of the plant will have a production capacity of 30,000 units annually. JLR has a long-term vision for the Ranipet facility, with plans to expand its capacity to over 250,000 units annually over the next five to seven years.

This expanded facility will cater not only to luxury SUVs but also to next-generation electric vehicles (EVs).
