Jindal Steel expands coated steel production with new unit at Angul plant

Metallurgical Industries  -  Jul 02,2025  -

Jindal Steel has initiated its inaugural continuous galvanizing line (CGL 1) at the Angul Integrated Steel Complex in Odisha, representing a significant advancement in its coated steel offerings.

This new facility will produce galvanized and galvalume products under the Jindal Panther Galvanized and ZINKALUME brands, catering to sectors such as automotive, appliances, infrastructure, and construction.

CGL 1 is engineered to process steel thicknesses ranging from 0.15 mm to 1.50 mm and widths between 700 mm and 1,400 mm, ensuring consistent quality and high precision. The Jindal Panther Galvanized product line encompasses full hard, soft, and skin-passed steel grades, suitable for applications including air conditioners, electrical panels, ducting, and silos, and also serves as a base material for pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI).

ZINKALUME products, coated with aluminum, silicon, and zinc, offer enhanced corrosion resistance and thermal durability, making them ideal for solar structures, fuel tanks, and pre-painted galvalume (PPGL) applications.

Furthermore, the line is capable of producing thinner HR galvanized coils and high-strength steel for automotive underbody components. Jindal Steel is also projecting an expansion of Angul's crude steel capacity to 12 MTPA by the close of 2025.
