Interstate transmission scheme proposed for Green Hydrogen plants in Vizag

Power Generation  -  Oct 02,2025  -

The Andhra Pradesh government has proposed an interstate transmission scheme dedicated to serving forthcoming green hydrogen plants in Visakhapatnam (Vizag).

The scheme envisions building high-capacity transmission lines to evacuate clean energy from green hydrogen production facilities to regional demand centers and interstate grids.

It reflects the state’s ambition to tap into the rising hydrogen economy and integrate it into its energy portfolio.

By ensuring robust transmission infrastructure, the plan aims to make Vizag a hub for green hydrogen manufacturing, attracting investment and enabling scale.

Challenges ahead include regulatory approvals, grid synchronization, land acquisition for line corridors, and coordination with neighboring states.

If executed well, this initiative may place Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of India’s green energy transition, leveraging its coastal geography, port access, and industrial base.
