Intense Competition expected for Rs 19,239 crore Vadhvan Port Dredging contract

Infrastructure  -  Nov 03,2025  -

The Vadhvan Port project in Maharashtra, one of India’s largest greenfield deep-sea port developments, is attracting strong interest from global and domestic dredging majors for its Rs 19,239 crore dredging and reclamation contract.

The port, a joint venture between Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and the Maharashtra Maritime Board, aims to handle 300 million tonnes of cargo annually upon completion.

The dredging package, one of the largest of its kind in Asia, will involve complex marine engineering works to create deep channels suitable for ultra-large container vessels.

Once operational, Vadhvan is expected to become a key node in India’s global logistics chain, easing pressure on existing ports like JNPT and enhancing India’s maritime competitiveness.
