VOC Port Authority partners Spain’s TYPSA for container terminal project

Infrastructure  -  Nov 03,2025  -

VOC Port Authority, based in Tamil Nadu’s Tuticorin, has engaged Spanish engineering consultancy TYPSA to provide design and technical expertise for its upcoming mega container terminal.

This move follows previous unsuccessful attempts to launch the project, reflecting the port’s renewed focus on global collaboration and best-in-class design standards.

The terminal, once realized, will expand Tuticorin’s handling capacity, support international trade, and reduce logistics costs for exporters in southern India.

The project forms part of India’s port modernization plan under Sagarmala and will position VOC Port as a leading gateway for containerized cargo in the Bay of Bengal region.

TYPSA’s participation also brings European engineering expertise to India’s growing maritime infrastructure portfolio.
