IIT Madras, Hyundai to establish Rs 180 crore green hydrogen research hub in Tamil Nadu

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) have unveiled plans for a cutting-edge green hydrogen research hub, the "Hyundai HTWO Innovation Centre." 

This ambitious project, backed by a significant investment of Rs 180 crore, is set to propel India to the forefront of green hydrogen technology, with operations expected to commence by 2026.

The architectural design of the state-of-the-art facility was revealed in a recent event, highlighting the collaborative synergy between HMIL, IIT Madras, and Guidance Tamil Nadu, the state's investment promotion agency. 

The innovation center will be strategically located at IIT Madras' Discovery Campus in Thaiyur, near Chennai, underscoring Tamil Nadu's growing prominence in the green technology landscape.

The Hyundai HTWO Innovation Centre is envisioned as a national nexus for advancing green hydrogen, with a multifaceted approach to research and development.
