Hindustan Copper to invest Rs 400 crore in new concentrator plant in Madhya Pradesh

Metallurgical Industries  -  Jul 07,2025  -

Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), India's sole vertically integrated copper producer, is set to significantly boost its production capabilities with a planned investment of Rs 400 crore in a new concentrator plant.

This state-of-the-art facility, boasting a capacity of 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), will be established at its flagship Malanjkhand Copper Project (MCP) in Madhya Pradesh.

The announcement was made by Sanjiv Kumar Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Copper Ltd, who stated that the new plant is a crucial component of HCL's ambitious strategy to triple its overall ore production capacity from the current 4 MTPA to 12.2 MTPA by fiscal year 2030-31.

The company aims to commence construction work on the new facility at Malanjkhand as early as next year.

A concentrator plant plays a vital role in mining operations by processing raw mined ore to separate valuable minerals from waste rock.

The output is a concentrated product with a higher proportion of the desired minerals, which is then sent for further refinement stages like smelting or refining to produce the final metal.

HCL currently operates a 2.5 MTPA concentrator plant at Malanjkhand, and this new addition will substantially enhance its processing capabilities.
