Manufacturing  -  Jul 07,2025  -

Seiko Epson Corporation, the global technology leader headquartered in Japan, has officially inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in India.

The new plant, located in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, marks a pivotal step in Epson's commitment to local production and sustainable innovation within the country.

The state-of-the-art facility has been established in collaboration with Epson's manufacturing partner, RIKUN. While the inauguration took place on July 4, 2025, the plant is expected to commence commercial operations in October 2025.

Initially, the facility will focus on the production of Epson's highly popular EcoTank printers.

These printers, known for their high-capacity, cartridge-free design, are both cost-effective and environmentally friendly, having sold over 8 million units in India and exceeding 100 million globally.

The Chennai plant aims to produce 20,000 EcoTank units per month once it reaches full operational capacity.

Junkichi Yoshida, Global President of Seiko Epson, emphasized the strategic importance of India, stating, "This is a historic occasion for Epson. India is crucial to our growth and offers immense opportunity for innovation and leadership, with its fast-growing economy, youthful population, and digital progress."
