Haryana to set up 800 MW thermal units at Panipat and Hisar

Industrial Products  -  Sep 25,2025  -

The Haryana government plans to develop 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power units in Panipat and Hisar to meet growing industrial and residential electricity demand.

These projects aim to stabilize power supply, reduce load shedding, and support regional industrial growth.

The projects, spearheaded by the state-owned Haryana Power Generation Corporation (HPGCL), represent a combined investment of approximately Rs 12,000 crore.

"Energy is the lifeline of any nation, and a robust energy infrastructure is the cornerstone of a self-reliant India," stated Energy Minister Anil Vij.

The new units will employ advanced ultra-supercritical technology, which operates at higher temperatures and pressures than conventional subcritical thermal plants.

Officials have highlighted environmental compliance and modernization of the plants as key priorities, reflecting India’s effort to balance energy security with sustainability.
