GAIL India Limited will invest Rs. 1,736 crore to develop a 178 MW wind power project in Maharashtra as part of its renewable energy expansion strategy.

The company’s board has approved the investment, marking one of its largest wind energy commitments to date.

GAIL said the project aligns with its long-term plan to diversify into clean energy and reduce carbon intensity.

The wind capacity will be developed in phases and integrated with the grid upon commissioning.

The investment supports India’s broader renewable energy targets and energy transition roadmap.
