German automation technology leader Festo has opened a new manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, with an investment of Rs 500 crore. This facility, spread over 75 acres, will specialize in making advanced components for pneumatic automation for both the Indian market and for export around the world.

The plant is expected to create over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, with plans to grow both its production capacity and workforce in the future. Marking the company’s 100th anniversary, Thomas Böck, Chairman of the Management Board, said, “We are very proud to celebrate 100 years of Festo by showing our commitment to India through this new facility.”

The company stressed its "local for local" approach, aiming to strengthen regional operations, make supply chains shorter, and reduce emissions by improving its global research and development, logistics, and production facilities.

Festo had previously promised Rs 520 crore during the Global Investors Meet 2024 in Tamil Nadu to build this new facility in Krishnagiri district, with the goal of creating over 2,000 jobs.
