Solarium to establish 1 GW Solar module manufacturing plant in Ahmedabad

Power Generation  -  Jun 13,2025  -

Solarium Green Energy Limited (Solarium) plans to get back into making solar modules. The company will use the newest technology with fully automated machines that can produce a lot more.

The plant will be able to produce about 1000 megawatts (MW) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. This will cost an estimated Rs 70 crore, plus the money needed to run it day-to-day. This will be covered by a mix of borrowed money and company funds, with three parts borrowed for every one part from the company.

This move is a smart step for the company to make more of its own parts. For solar projects, solar modules usually make up about 50-60% of the total cost.

By making their own modules, the company hopes to avoid big price swings, finish projects faster, and make sure their supply chain is secure, all while improving their profit margins.

The facility will focus on making Crystalline Silicon Solar PV Modules. The company will use advanced techniques like TOPCon cells, half-cut cells, and bifacial cells. They will import special machines for connecting and laminating cells, and sun simulators to ensure high-quality and efficient products.
