DPIIT partners with Ather Energy to boost EV manufacturing

Power Generation  -  Jul 30,2025  -

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has joined hands with Ather Energy, a leading Indian electric vehicle (EV) maker.

This partnership aims to boost local EV manufacturing and foster innovation in clean transportation.

The agreement is part of the "Build in Bharat" initiative, supported by the Startup Policy Forum (SPF), a group of over 50 startups focused on innovation.

This collaboration is a public-private effort designed to strengthen India's ability to produce electric vehicles.

Under the agreement, DPIIT and Ather Energy will work together on several fronts, including:

  •     Mentoring new technology startups.
  •     Providing support for EV-related infrastructure.
  •     Hosting joint innovation challenges, like the "Bharat Startup Grand Challenge."
  •     Organizing programs to develop talent and skills.
  •     Encouraging participation in major startup events such as Startup Mahakumbh.

This partnership is expected to open new doors for young manufacturing businesses and contribute significantly to India's goals for climate action, reducing carbon emissions, and shifting to green transportation.
