Centre gives nod to 65 km Bhavnagar-Dholera railway line

Infrastructure  -  Aug 25,2025  -

The Centre has approved the construction of a new 65 km railway line connecting Bhavnagar and Dholera.

The project is primarily aimed at enhancing freight connectivity and will serve as a crucial link between the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) and the burgeoning port terminals of Bhavnagar.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently reviewed the project's plans on-site, directing for an immediate final location survey (FLS).

This railway corridor is expected to facilitate the rapid movement of raw materials and finished goods, significantly reducing logistics costs and turnaround times for businesses operating in the Dholera SIR.

The development is also anticipated to spur economic activity along the route, with a potential increase in land value and the establishment of new logistics parks and industrial units.

The new line is seen as a game-changer for heavy industries and export-oriented businesses, reinforcing Dholera's position as a global manufacturing and logistics hub.
