Central government clears Rs 417 crore project for electronics growth in Uttar Pradesh

The Central government has approved a Rs 417-crore project to set up an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Budh Nagar district, specifically in Sector 10 of the Yamuna Expressway. The goal is to boost local electronics production and new ideas.

This project is expected to bring in about Rs 2,500 crore in investments and create around 15,000 jobs.

IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said this fully supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi's aim to boost manufacturing in India. He added that it shows the government's strong focus on creating jobs and building a developed India.

The EMC 2.0 will be built by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) on 206.4 acres of land.

The project's Rs 417-crore cost does not include the land price. It includes Rs 144 crore in financial help from the IT ministry, with Yeida funding the rest, according to the approved document seen by HT.

The project is expected to be finished by January 2028. It will have facilities like a skill development center, a convention center, and a three-story hostel block, among others.
