Cabinet approves major Rs 75,000 crore infrastructure push

The Maharashtra cabinet, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has given the green light to a massive Rs 75,000 crore infrastructure spending plan across major cities, including Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur. 

The move is aimed at significantly boosting urban mobility and development.

Key projects include a new underground Metro Line-11 in Mumbai, a Rs 24,000 crore investment, linking Wadala Depot to the Gateway of India. 

The cabinet also approved the purchase of 238 new air-conditioned suburban local trains for Mumbai at a cost of Rs 4,826 crore, with funding shared equally between the state and the Railway Board. 

Other approved projects include a circular metro line for Thane, Metro expansions in Pune and Nagpur, and a new elevated road connecting Thane to the Navi Mumbai International Airport. 

The plan also includes a Rs 13,748 crore Outer Ring Road for Nagpur and the construction of new high court complexes.
