A strategic agreement has been signed between BCGCL and Mahanadi Coalfields Limited to develop a coal-to-ammonium nitrate project in Odisha. The initiative aims to convert domestic coal resources into value-added industrial products.

Ammonium nitrate is widely used in mining and infrastructure sectors, making it a critical industrial input.

The project reflects a broader push towards coal gasification and downstream utilisation of coal.
 

Such initiatives are expected to enhance resource efficiency while reducing dependence on imports of industrial chemicals.
