APMRCL floats Rs 6250 crore civil work tender for Visakhapatnam Metro Project Phase 1

The Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (APMRCL) has invited e-tenders for the Phase 1 construction of the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Project, valued at Rs 6,250 crore (excluding GST). This marks a significant step forward for the ambitious urban transport project in the Steel City.

The tender, floated on an Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis, covers the engineering, design, and construction of a viaduct spanning 46.23 km across three corridors. A key highlight of this phase is the inclusion of a 20.16 km Double Decker Four Lane Flyover cum Metro Viaduct, along with 42 elevated metro stations along the three corridors.

The Phase 1 of the project is targeted for completion within 30 months from the commencement date, with the Double Decker 4 Lane Flyover specifically aimed for completion in 24 months. Interested bidders can download tender documents from the AP e-procurement portal from July 28, with September 12 being the last date for submission. A virtual pre-bid meeting is scheduled for August 12.

The overall Phase 1 of the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Project is estimated to cost Rs 11,498 crore and will be executed across three corridors: Corridor 1 from Steel Plant Junction to Kommadi on NH-16 (34.26 km), Corridor 2 from Gurudwara to Old Post Office (5.28 km), and Corridor 3 from Thatichatlapalem to Chinna Waltair (RK Beach) (6.91 km). This project is set to significantly enhance urban connectivity and ease commuting for the residents of Visakhapatnam.
