Centre approves Rs 325 crore NH-248A highway project linking South Haryana to Rajasthan

Infrastructure  -  Jul 29,2025  -

In a significant infrastructure boost for South Haryana, the Centre has approved a new 45 km four-lane National Highway project, designated as part of NH-248A, linking Nuh to Ferozepur Jhirka and Alwar on the Rajasthan border. Tenders for the Rs 325 crore project have been issued, with a targeted completion period of two years.

This ambitious highway project aims to drastically cut travel time and enhance road safety in the region. The new highway will feature nine flyovers, six underpasses, and bypasses at Malab and Bhadas of Nuh.

This development comes after years of persistent advocacy and public pressure, particularly from the Mewat RTI Manch, an activist group that has campaigned since 2013 to address the high fatality rate on this stretch, infamously known as the "bloody highway." Over 2,500 fatalities have been reported on this road in the past 12 years.

Initially, a Rs 186 crore proposal was approved in 2019 but was put on hold due to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway construction plans. With a renewed focus and increased budget, the revised Rs 325 crore estimate has now been approved.
