ABB India commits Rs 140 crore to expand motor manufacturing capacity

Manufacturing  -  Sep 26,2025  -

Electrification and automation major ABB India Limited has announced a fresh capital expenditure (capex) of over Rs 140 crore to significantly expand and modernize its Low Voltage (LV) motors manufacturing facility.

The investment is specifically aimed at increasing production capacity to meet both domestic and international demand for high-efficiency motors.

As part of this expansion, the company plans to launch IE5 ultra-premium efficiency motors, which are designed to operate on both Direct On-Line (DOL) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and are notably free from rare-earth metals.

While ABB operates multiple facilities across India, including a significant presence in Karnataka (with 5 locations), this investment reinforces India’s role as a major global manufacturing hub for high-end industrial automation components.
