21-km Bhuj bypass moves forward as land acquisition gains traction

Infrastructure  -  Mar 31,2026  -

The proposed 21-km Bhuj bypass project has entered a key preparatory phase with funds earmarked for land acquisition, clearing a major bottleneck in execution. The bypass is intended to divert through-traffic away from city roads, easing congestion and improving travel efficiency.

Bhuj has seen rising vehicular movement due to regional economic activity, making traffic management a priority. Once operational, the bypass will support smoother freight movement across Kutch while reducing urban traffic load. Construction is expected to begin once land acquisition is completed.

Bypasses such as this play a critical role in improving logistics efficiency by enabling uninterrupted movement of goods vehicles. This is particularly important in regions with growing industrial and port activity.

The project is also expected to improve road safety within the city by reducing heavy vehicle traffic in populated areas. This will enhance overall urban mobility conditions.
