Wipro to set up Rs 500 crore facility in Karnataka for printed circuit board materials

Manufacturing  -  Jul 29,2025  -

Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) has announced the launch of a new business division, Wipro Electronic Materials, focused on manufacturing base materials for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs).

This initiative will see an estimated investment of Rs 500 crore for establishing a Copper Clad Laminate (CCL) manufacturing facility in Karnataka.

The proposed facility is designed to produce over six million sheets of copper-clad laminates and related pre-impregnated materials annually. This is a significant development for India, as the country currently relies entirely on imports for copper-clad laminates. The new plant is expected to generate approximately 350 direct jobs.

Pratik Kumar, CEO of WIN and Managing Director of Wipro Enterprises, stated that this marks a "first-of-its-kind investment in India's electronics manufacturing landscape," made possible with support from the Government of Karnataka and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

The primary objective of this initiative is to provide Indian manufacturers with consistent access to domestically produced PCB materials, thereby enhancing supply chain resilience and improving competitiveness in global markets.

The facility will cater to diverse sectors, including telecommunications, automotive electronics, consumer electronics, industrial systems, and artificial intelligence infrastructure, contributing significantly to India's "Make in India" vision for electronics manufacturing.
